Matthew Kirkland graduated from Francis Marion University with a BS in Computer Science, where he was introduced to Hillsouth through their scholarship program. Soon afterwards, Matthew began an internship with Hillsouth’s application development team, which he followed up with part-time employment throughout the remainder of his time at FMU. Immediately after graduating, he transitioned to full-time employment and quickly moved into our Advanced Infrastructure team where he helps solve complex networking and infrastructure issues as well as manage our own company’s hosting infrastructure.
Why HillSouth?
Hillsouth gave me the opportunity to step out of college and be taught the skills to design, build, and manage enterprise environments and data-centers. It is wonderful to be a part of such a talented team.
About Me
Matthew Kirkland graduated from Francis Marion University with a BS in Computer Science, where he was introduced to Hillsouth through their scholarship program. Soon afterwards, Matthew began an internship with Hillsouth’s application development team, which he followed up with part-time employment throughout the remainder of his time at FMU. Mr. Kirkland’s skills include network design and implementation, database administration, C++, Ruby, Java, other variants and close relatives to those languages, secure remote access connections, virtualization, and a strong understanding of DNS, web hosting, and email communication. Although Matthew’s work life is centered around bleeding edge technologies, in his free time, he prefers to take a few steps away and relax to a different tune. So when time permits, he prefers to spend his time outdoors on the lake or in the woods at his family’s farm land.
