HillSouth’s CTO and Co-founder was nominated and awarded South Carolina’s Inaugural CIO Award

The South Carolina CIO Awards presented by Greenville Business Magazine, Columbia Business Monthly and Charleston Business Magazine with Acumen IT recognized fourteen South Carolina-based CIOs, CISOs, and IT directors who have shown leadership in their organization delivering through strategic implementation of enterprise wide IT systems that add business value and innovation in the private and public company sectors. Andy Patel accepted his award at the ceremony at the South Carolina State Museum on Thursday.

Mr. Patel, an alumnus of the University of South Carolina, has over 15 years of experience in Enterprise IT as well as a background in analytical chemistry, solid state physics and electrical engineering.

Mr. Patel's career at HillSouth began as a co-founder while still a student at West Florence High School in 2001. After graduating from high school, Andy pursued opportunities outside of HillSouth while in Columbia earning a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of South Carolina. Following graduation from USC, Andy led business interests in land development and residential construction across the state. In 2008, he returned to HillSouth as VP of Business Development and has been instrumental in propelling the company forward since his return. His insights into the larger IT industry trends and key vendor relationships have allowed the company to excel within its industry to become the leader that it is today.


Andy's work at the company centers around managing a dynamic group of highly talented individuals as they go about the everyday tasks of seeing through HillSouth's mission of creating valuable partnerships by delivering exceptional technology services and guidance through quality people to evolving organizations.

Mr. Patel holds numerous technical certifications from leading technology providers such as Cisco, EMC, VMWare and HP. He has worked extensively in the industry to grow his engineering knowledge and skills and his extensive resume has garnered the company numerous awards and led the recruitment efforts for some of the most talented individuals to join the HillSouth team.

Mr. Patel is married to his best friend Elizabeth Patel and spends most of his time away from the office with her and their two children. Mr. Patel has served as Chairman of the Board for the United Way of Florence County, a board member of the Florence County Progress as well as a member of the Network Systems Management Advisory Committee at Florence Darlington Technical College and the Chair of the Florence County, South Carolina IT Development Committee

In 2018 he became the youngest winner ever of the prestigious Ashpy P. Lowrimore Award from United Way of Florence County during their Annual Awards event. During the presentation of this honor it was said: "His humanity and generosity continue to serve as a guide to all the donors who want to make a difference, both donors individually and corporately."
